Passive Warning System by Ballast Tools Equipment
The BTE BallastVisionTM Short Range Passive Mode Warning System is designed to detect objects and alert equipment operators of objects and personnel within the specified detection zones.
CONTACT USBallastVision Cameras detect objects in the predetermined detection zones. The system can detect objects within a range of 95 feet for reflective objects and does not require personnel to carry a special token or device with them.
Protecting personnel working in and around roadway work equipment has long been a top priority throughout the railway industry. While on-track safety has continued to improve steadily there is still a need to apply new technology to help eliminate on-track incidents – especially in the “work zone.”BTE was recently approached by a Class 1 railroad to develop new technology to alert work equipment operators and on-track personnel of one another’s presence.
The system utilizes forward and rear facing cameras and an in-cab display equipped with warning lights and an audible alarm.
BallastVision is a LIDAR based system designed to detect objects and alert equipment operators of objects and personnel within the specified detection zones. The system utilizes forward and rear facing cameras and an in-cab display equipped with warning lights and an audible alarm. BallastVision also utilizes an exterior light and alarm beacons to alert personnel working around the machine. Detection zones are configurable in 4 directions: distance, minimum height, maximum height and width of detection areas. BallastVision can detect objects within a range of 95 feet for reflective objects and 30 feet for non-reflective objects and does not require personnel to carry a special token or device with them.
